Siena

Siena a beautiful old city in the region of Tuscany, with pedestrian streets. An annual horse race (Palio) is held in the Piazza del Campo the city town square, which is usually a tourist and local hangout. The Palazzo Pubblico (town hall) on the square housed the city government. The tower was designed to be taller than the tower in neighboring rival Florence; at the time it was the tallest structure in Italy. The cathedral of Siena is a medieval church from the 13th century. The exterior and interior are constructed of white and greenish-black marble in alternating stripes, with addition of red marble on the fa├žade.
