Roma & Natalia - Travelers. Photographers. Storytellers.
We quit our jobs and sold everything. We are looking for our own path.

Bologna – gritty city of covered streets

A gritty city, is the best way to describe it. During the day its impressive buildings and archways mix with modern stores and businesses. Arcades, or covered walkways are present on many streets in the city center, making it possible to walk for many kilometers sheltered from rain. In the evening when the stores shutter, graffiti abounds, the streets are empty, and the bars are filled with hippy students. Bologna is supposed to be renowned for its culinary tradition, but we found surprisingly few restaurants just by strolling the city. It may be the case that you have to know where you are going, but nevertheless we did find some bars and restaurants near the university that were really good, had the best Spaghetti Bolognese. Home to the oldest university in the Western world, University of Bologna was founded in 1088. There is still a large student presence, and walking through the university quarter at night was an opportunity for some cool pics.
