Spent Halloween evening in the parking lot of a rodeo - parents from all over Moab drove their kids there in costume, parked a few hundred cars in a giant circle, and kids went from open trunk to open trunk trick-or-treating. A local retired boy scout leader educated us about barrel races at the rodeo (horse riders avoiding barrels) and the mormon church, which he urged us to investigate and consider joining. [10/31/2011]

Second day in Moab, Utah - visiting Arches National Park. We had just crossed over from Boulder, Colorado where there was an awsome Whole Foods, with a liquor / wine store INSIDE of it. Well we go to get groceries at the local Moab Version of Safeway. I go to the beer section and almost bought a 12 pack of 3.2% beer!!! Its like china here. Turns out Utah due to a large population of Mormon faith, and more likely explanation now days a gov monopoly on strong alky, sells all the good beer at the gov controlled liquor store. Doh!!
